Lake Highlands

School-centric with an emphasis on the great outdoors.

Welcome to Lake Highlands

This sprawling, close-in suburb quite literally rises above the city.

Taking up significant square mileage in northeast Dallas, Lake Highlands is broader and farther out than most Dallas neighborhoods (and largely perched on higher elevation) but still feels like a cohesive community not far from the city’s excitements. Richardson ISD schools, which serve most of the community, are a big selling point for new buyers as is the multitude of parks.

Built-up during a housing boom in the 60s and 70s, this sprawling northeast Dallas neighborhood is quite straightforwardly named for both its proximity to White Rock Lake and elevated topography. Lake Highlands, TX real estate is known for being luxurious at times, spacious, and surrounded by tree-lined streets.

What to Expect

Established subdivisions with big backyards punctuated by shopping strips and office developments.

The feeling throughout Lake Highlands is that you’ve stumbled into a humble hometown that happens to be in a big city. The Hill, a revamped shopping center, is bringing exciting new tenants to the area.

The Lifestyle

School-centric with an emphasis on the great outdoors.

Lake Highlands families are very involved in the Richardson ISD schools that support the majority of neighborhoods. School pride spills over into community engagement too, with lots of porch parties, service clubs, and the annual Buzz Party held at the end of each school year.

Unexpected Appeal

The many trails and parks along White Rock Creek.

Sizable White Rock Lake, just south of the community, is a beautiful playground for paddleboarders, sailing enthusiasts, and kayakers. So too does the 7.6-mile White Rock Creek trail and its surrounding greenbelt attract walkers, joggers, and bicyclists who make use of a succession of linked parks, including popular Flag Pole Hill.

The Market

Dozens of subdivisions create a chain of communities.

Home buyers, including many first-timers, look to Lake Highlands both for pre-war bungalows that they can restore and well-situated lots ideal for new builds.

You'll Fall in Love With

Having both the city and larger suburbs close at hand.

With Dallas’s vibrant urban core to the south and rapidly growing suburbs like Plano and Frisco to the north, Lake Highlanders get to enjoy the best of both worlds. Interstate 635, also known as the LBJ Freeway, runs right through the area and is a convenient thoroughfare to many parts of the Metroplex; commuters can also take the DART light rail into downtown.
