The neighborhood is a portion of Oak Lawn, one of the wealthiest areas of Dallas, and is sometimes considered to contain part of Uptown. The area is known for its beautiful green spaces and vintage home styles, leading it to be a popular escape from the urban sprawl of Dallas. One of the best places to visit in Turtle Creek is Turtle Creek Park. Located off of Turtle Creek, this historical park is a sprawling oasis and a great place to relax in the sun, walk, and picnic. Another park to visit is Reverchon Park, a 46-acre park that is home to a portion of the Katy Trail, as well as sports areas, a playground, and recreation facilities.
 
As for events, one great place to go is the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, a concert hall located in the Arts District and home to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. The Winspear Opera House is also a great destination for live performances. Not just for opera, Winspear Opera House is host to several theatrical performances throughout the year as well.
