Lakewood is a family-oriented, quiet neighborhood in Eastern Dallas. That said, it’s often described as an oasis, with its beautiful outdoor spaces along the shore of White Rock Lake being a haven for plenty of activities. Lakewood also has the benefit of being a smaller community. Young professionals can also find a lot to love about the area, as it is close to Downtown Dallas’ job market and great nightlife.

Lakewood has access to many great restaurants and shops. With many to choose from, the following are only a few of the best the area has to offer.
 
One popular store is Talulah & HESS, a stylish boutique that offers a variety of creative clothing, accessories, gifts, and local artists’ works. Another great place to visit in the area is Curiosities Antiques, a collective of dealers that sells antique jewelry, art, decor, and vintage clothing. Canal Clothing is also a great choice for women’s clothing, jewelry, and accessories featuring unique, hand-made designs. For great restaurants, Smoky Rose is a rustic American restaurant serving wood-smoked meats, local beers, and cocktails. Lounge Here is also a popular place to go. There are plenty of opportunities for leisure activities in Lakewood. Whether you prefer spending a day out in the park or attending a local event, there’s something fun for everyone.
 
If you like to be out in nature, one great option is The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. This sprawling 66-acre botanical garden offers manicured landscapes with beautiful plants and sculptural works. White Rock Lake is also a great place to visit. With plenty of walking and biking trails as well as boathouses and picnic spots, White Rock Lake could be the perfect place to spend a day relaxing by the water. Lakewood Park, located on the western shore, is a quaint neighborhood park with a playground, basketball court, and picnic tables.
 
The Lakewood Fourth of July Parade and Celebration is always a crowd favorite. For more frequent events, Balcony Club is a great place to see live jazz in a relaxing environment. The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden hosts many events throughout the year, including Family Fun Fridays and Tour des Fleurs. Nearby Samuell-Grand Park hosts several fun events throughout the year, such as sporting events and concerts at the amphitheater.

Schools

Lakewood is served by the Dallas Independent School District. With many great schools in the area, Lakewood Elementary, J. L. Long Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson High School have all received top ratings from the Texas Education Agency.
